Despite the busy traffic around the square, I was immediately drawn into the peaceful and atmospheric setting of the market.

The Christmas market at Place de la Concorde has been moved this year from Hotel de Ville tot Place de la Concorde, and it’s a great decision.
Situated between landmarks like the Obelisk, Hôtel de Crillon, and the Eiffel Tower in the distance, the market offers a magical view and an enchanting atmosphere. The hustle and bustle of the city seems a bit further away as you stroll between the wooden chalets and decorated trees. The focus isn’t on an overabundance of food or the sale of trinkets, but on a peaceful walk through a charming winter wonderland.
Fairytale atmosphere: wandering the market in Paris
As I wandered through the market, I immediately noticed the calm, almost fairy-tale atmosphere. The trees were adorned with sparkling lights and white Christmas baubles, and snow-covered fir and pine trees were scattered across the square. Instead of the usual commercial chaos, the chalets and stalls were surrounded by a natural décor of wooden benches, artwork, and festive baubles that enhanced the atmosphere.

I’m a big fan of vin chaud, and it always puts me in the holiday spirit. It was exactly what I needed as I walked through the market. The scent of the warm wine mixed with the crisp winter air, immediately setting the tone for the rest of the afternoon. Of course, there were also plenty of other delicious treats for sale, like crêpes, pretzels, and hot chocolate, but the focus was mainly on the enchanting atmosphere that the Christmas market exuded.
Christmas windows that come to life
The Christmas market at Place de la Concorde featured some remarkable window displays that really caught my attention. These weren’t just ordinary decorations but artworks created by city workers. The focus was on nature and imaginative storytelling. I discovered one window display that was entirely made of LEGO, with a Santa Claus, children, a Christmas tree, and even a cat on the mantel—all crafted from LEGO. It was a fun and unexpected surprise that I won’t soon forget. There were also large Christmas baubles featuring drawings of festive scenes, each with a QR code. When I scanned the code, a story came to life, making the experience even more magical.

When you say goodbye to this romantic Christmas market, the magic doesn’t end. Just a few steps away lies the Christmas market in the Tuileries, which offers a completely different atmosphere. The contrast between the two markets makes it well worth visiting both. While the market at Concorde is quiet and magical, the market in the Tuileries offers a different kind of experience, more like a circus. It’s the perfect way to experience the holiday season in Paris.
