I love evening strolls, especially in the weeks leading up to Christmas. The streets are beautifully lit, and I truly look forward to the “Les vitrines de Noël”, the Christmas windows of the grand department stores. Designing and creating these displays takes nearly a year, so you can imagine it’s something you don’t want to miss if you spend Christmas in Paris.

Themes of the Christmas windows in Paris
Every year, it’s a grand spectacle in the windows of Paris. Small shops are beautifully decorated with Christmas decorations, and the grand department stores are transformed into enchanting worlds.
To get in the mood, I’ll show you last year’s themes.
After this, you’ll get a preview of the Christmas Window themes of Paris in 2024.
- Christmas window Galeries Lafayette: Last year’s theme, “Le Noël de mes rêves” (“The Christmas of My Dreams”), by Charles de Vilmorin, was inspired by his fond memories of Christmas with his grandparents. It featured a magical tree and a mysterious night under the Coupole. A girl with a magical brush explored a fantasy world in vibrant scenes, with the 15-meter Christmas tree as a stunning focal point.
- Christmas window Printemps Haussmann: Unlike Galeries Lafayette’s extravaganza, Printemps chose “Noël en papier, les voeux sont exaucés,” a paper Christmas theme. It tells a story of wishes coming true and invites visitors to express their dreams. The windows dazzled with 170,000 paper decorations, featuring an 11-meter paper library and a massive Christmas tree.
- Christmas window BHV Marais: Last year’s theme was “Il était une fois Noël en forêt,” which evokes an enchanting forest, complete with glittering branches and encounters with animals such as bears and hedgehogs.
- Christmas window La Samaritaine: The windows were inspired by the world of Willy Wonka, with an emphasis on sweets and treats. This enchanting presentation was a collaboration with Warner Bros to celebrate the release of the film ‘Wonka’.
- Christmas window Le Bon Marché: Le Bon Marché’s theme, “Le Noël Gourmand de Maud” by illustrator Maud Bury, brings a festive, culinary atmosphere. Focused on gastronomic delights and colorful treats, teddy bears play the central role. Each window depicts a different Christmas activity, bringing a joyful holiday spirit to the displays.
