Spring in Jardin du Luxembourg: the perfect escape

The first rays of spring sunshine are here, and I know exactly where to go. Spring in Jardin du Luxembourg is nothing short of magical.

Jardin de Luxembourg Paris

Originally designed for Maria de’ Medici in the 17th century, this stunning park is now one of the most beloved green spaces in Paris. With its elegant layout, famous green chairs, and vibrant atmosphere, it’s the perfect place to experience the city as it awakens from winter. So, that’s where me and my friend were going yesterday.

Jardin de Luxembourg : a lively park in the heart of Paris

The moment I step inside, I feel the energy shift. Groups of students gather on the grass, laughing and chatting. Others sit alone, absorbed in a book or simply enjoying the view. The iconic green chairs are all taken—some people lean back, basking in the sun, while others sit quietly, lost in thought. Nearby, joggers weave through the tree-lined paths, and at the chess tables, players focus intensely on their next move. The whole park feels alive, buzzing with the first real warmth of the season.

Why I keep coming back

Walking through Jardin du Luxembourg in spring reminds me why I love this city so much. Paris can be fast-paced and overwhelming, but here, everything slows down. There’s a certain rhythm to the park—moments of quiet reflection mixed with the lively hum of conversations and laughter. It’s a place where Parisians and visitors blend seamlessly, each finding their own way to enjoy this oasis in the heart of the city.

Time for a spring picnic in Paris

As I take in the scene, one thought keeps coming back: we need to return soon with friends. A blanket, a bottle of wine, fresh baguette and cheese from the market—just sitting, talking, and watching the city move around us.

Spring in Jardin du Luxembourg is here, and I can’t wait to make the most of it !
