The red lights above the entrance of Galeries Lafayette Hausman already shimmer in the cool November air, when I step out of the metro. It’s that moment I wait for every year, the quiet excitement before Christmas takes over Paris. I’m looking forward to the Christmas windows Paris 2025. The Christmas windows at Galeries Lafayette Paris Haussmann are still covered, but you can feel the anticipation rising like the hum of an orchestra before the first note.

Inside, the enormous Christmas tree is taking shape beneath the glass dome. It’s not ready yet, but what’s there already takes my breath away, the ribbons in deep red, floating gracefully through the atrium, catching the light.

What makes the Galeries Lafayette Christmas windows the true start of the holiday season?

For me, this is where the holidays in Paris truly begin. Galeries Lafayette always goes all out, the giant tree beneath the dome is an unmistakable eye-catcher, the collaborations are fresh and creative each year, and the window displays are crafted with an attention to detail that feels almost theatrical. They’re also among the first in the city to unveil their decorations, setting the tone for the weeks to come. When the lights go on here, it’s as if the entire city exhales, Christmas has officially started..

Who is behind the 2025 Christmas windows at Galeries Lafayette?

This year, the windows are imagined by Jeanne Detallante, an artist known for her dreamlike illustrations.
Her concept feels like stepping inside a Parisian Santa’s workshop , a world where elves bustle around with gifts, a focused Santa checks every list, and even a baby elephant and a duck in boots join the preparations.

They’re extravagant, humorous, and touching all at once. Each scene is so alive that even though the windows aren’t open yet, I can already picture the crowds that will soon press their faces to the glass.

Can we already see anything before the unveiling of the christmas tree in Galeries Lafayette ?

The official Christmas windows Paris 2025 Galeries Lafayette haven’t been revealed yet m that happens on November 12 , but we already get a glimpse of what’s coming.
When I passed by, I could see the scaffolding around the giant tree, workers hanging ornaments, the air thick with the scent of perfum and excitement.

What I love about this stage is the sense of becoming. Paris, in moments like this, work in progress, like always. It gives me something to look forward to.
